  1. National Turkey Federation estimated that 46 mil turkeys about 1/5th of the annual total of 235 mil were eaten at Thanksgiving.
  2. Three towns in the U.S. take their name from the traditional Thanksgiving bird, namely; Turkey, Texas; Turkey Creek, Louisiana; and Turkey, North Carolina.
  3. The first Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade took place in New York City in 1924 and was launched by Macy’s employees featuring animals from the Central Park Zoo.
